Athens Greenspace

For this, the #54 bus; waiting for it across the street from the Balboa Park BART.

The #54 climbs up the Excelsior neighborhood. Disembarked at Athens directly across the street from the Athens Avalon Greenspace, a beautiful gardenspot not visited in a while. 99 steps to Valmar Terrace: 1 thru 8

Downhill a little so I coild do another old stairway, this up from Peru with 77 steps to Valmar: 9, 10, 11

At the top, a few blocks south to Burrows St. that runs alongside McLaren Park.

Entered the park from Burrows, passing thru a small playground that was being renovated last time I was there:  12, 13

Up from the road, on and offtrail. Mostly in the company of gorgeous trees, on my way to Mansell for the #29 bus that runs E-W thru the park: 14, 15, 16

This is a huge park, third largest in San Francisco after the Presidio and Golden Gate Park.

Didn’t pass any of the Philosopher’s Way markers this time.

Mansell is in the process of becoming more pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly. But the same #29 bus stop is still here at John F. Sheltey & Mansell:  17. 18, 19

I like meandering around on San Francisco's park trails and public stairways, sometimes taking photos, and enjoying nature and the outdoors.
