Down to the top of the climb ing rocks, this time descending to the canyon floor via the stairs on the south side. 61 steps: 19 thru 23
Canyonfloor eastside trail heading north: 24 hru 29
Up to a higher trail, Diamond Heights longlegged homes above (pic 30), and down to the trail that now extends to Portola. At the footbridge over Islais Creek where an old tire used to help me across, was a fence with a trail closed sign (pic 31).
So what’s this? Work being done on the future Creeks to Peaks Trail? Assumed the trail-widening and clearing had been completed. What about wildlife and their habitats?
So how’re they gonna make it safe for people to cross busy, trafficky Portola?
I’m a huge advocate of skyways that cross one safely over wide streets like t9is one, as in the several that cross over the Bernal Cut/San Jose Ave. with stairs and/or zigzaggy walkways down, and the delightful green one that takes you from Forest Knolls (foot of the Ashwood steps) over Clarendon to the Midtown Terrace neighborhood? These can be seen on Google Maps.
