Fort Miley Forest all the way up to start this Land’s End hike: 1, 2, 3

Views from the north edge of the VA Hospital’s parking lot: 4

Hadn’t been up here in some months and was curious about the former picnic area below this parking lot. Looks like whoever’s in charge of this beautiful area has given up on opening it up again to the public. The stairs at both ends still have the closed signs across the tops that were there last visit.

This was such an inviting spot a few years ago before it was closed due to storm damage — with its wooden stairways, trails, benches, and picnic tables. They planted various things down here but some didn’t seem to do very well.

So here’s now it looks now as I moved along the overlook railing: 5 thru 19

Onto the Battle of the Bulge Trail:  20 thru 23

The Battle of the Bulge has 22 steps in all with a curvy walk in the middle. It descends to the west end of the Legion of Honor parking lot: 24 thru 37

The golf course: 38

Across from the museum: 39, 40

Legion of Honor Dr.: 41, 42, 43

Continuing to the foot of theLincoln Park golf course, around a short distance to the top of the Lincoln  Park stairs: 44, 45

Lincoln Park steps: 46 thru 53

Onto the Presidio’s Lovers’ Lane from its south trailhead alongside Presidio Blvd. and thru to its north end:  1 thru 15

From Lovers’ Lane to Inn at the Presidio:  16 thru 19

Ecology Trail all the way this time:  20 thru 57

Upon reaching the foot of the 45 unique old wooden steps that climb to Inspiration Point Overlook, noticed a couple of trucks and workers backing up to the steps, plus a Trail Closed sign. Managed to get up to the overlook on the old stairs just in time without having to detour. A last look at the old steps:  58 thru 61

A week later, passed by the top and it looked like this:  62, 63

Descending to the Post Chapel:  31 thru 35

56 steps down to the Main Post:  36 thru 42

Out thru the back of the Officers’ Club and onto the Ecology Trail from its east trailhead that’s just behind Inn of the Presidio:  43 thru 51

Back out the way I came in and down 36 steps to the street below on my way to the bus stop (#43), passing the top of Lover’s Lane at its north end:  52 thru 64

Starting this one at the Presidio’s15th Ave. Gate, round to the left, just above Lobos Valley Overlook:  1

Up Battery Caulfield Road to Washington:  2, 3, 4

Trailing alongside the residences, the the lower one to the 13 (in all) boardwalk/steps and picnic table:  5 thru 17

31 older wood steps to the west edge of Rob Hill Campground:  18 thru 28

Around on the right just outside the Campground:  29 thru 34

Noticed several tents in the area but no people:  35, 36

Down 12 steps, crossing narrow dead-end Central Magazine Road for a favorite short trail thru a forested area that descends to the backs of homes in the Fort Scott neighborhood:  37 thru 45

Crossing at the foot of this trail for Wisser Ct. that dead-ends at the Fort Scott Community Garden, saw a big, lean coyote across the street (Upton Ave.) who disappeared (walking) round the corner of one of the  large residences. A second later neighborhood dogs started up from inside their homes. Slothlike reflexes and these guys don’t exactly stand around posing for pix, so regret no fotos.

On to the Fort Scott Community Garden,  probably my favorite of all San Francisco’s community gardens:  46 thru 115

The open garden gate on the east side and steps down:  116, 117

Back out the way I came in to meander round the Fort Scott neighborhood on my way north to the second bridge bus stop (#28):  118 thru 126

I like meandering around on San Francisco's park trails and public stairways, sometimes taking photos, and enjoying nature and the outdoors.
