Third Time

This is the last in a series of three February Mount Sutro hikes for plum blossom viewing.  Feb. 22 was the best, although it seemed there were more blooms last year. Pix often don't do it justice, so do go explore in person.

Up the Farnsworth stairs to start:  1

South to the end of Edgewood Ave.:  2 thru 6

Edgewood Trail up to the road:  7 thru 24

Views from  the road: 25 thru 37

When turning the corner on a medical building’s stairway on my way down to the parking lot, dismayed to see a bare, cleared-out slope where there would normally be green:  38

Upon reaching  the permits-only parking lot to access the steps down, the lot was now fenced at its west edge:  39

Also fenced was at a small circle of green on the lot:  40

Why did they feel the need to add all this unsightly fencing around here?

Along the slope, just to the left of the top of the stairs leading down from he parking lot, more cleared-out ground with no moist green below (as there normally would be this time of year), and with fencing around this area too:  41

Down the 136 steps, wondering what horrors might await my next visit re all this fencing and forest clearing, as work here was obviously ongoing:  42 thru 51

Feb. 14:  Same lower Mount Sutro route as a week ago on the lower Historic and Edgewood Trails.

Started out once again at the upper Stanyan trailhead for the lower Historic Trail:  1, 2, 3

A little way up encountered a downed tree across the trail and climbed over. Probably from the recent storm: 4, 5, 6

Continuing up to the road:  7 thru 34

Blossoms  were all over the trails at my feet.

Along the road (Medical Center Way):  35 thru 42

Aldea Community Center steps:  43

Back along the road and down to the Edgewood Trail:  44

Edgewood Trail curving round to Edgewood Ave. as last week.  45 thru 78

Edgewood Ave.:  79 thru 86

Again Farnsworth Lane (149 steps) down to Willard:  87 thru 92

Feb. 6: A Mount Sutro lower Historic and Edgewood Trail hike to view the expected plum blossoms.

Last year (Feb. 8) there was a spectacular show of plum blossoms along these two trails and elsewhere, but this year not quite there yet. So decided to come back next week.

Starting off at the upper Stanyan trailhead:  1

Up the trail to the road:  2 thru 23

Views from the road:  24 thru 32

Over as far as the Aldea Community Center:  33, 34, 35

Could not bring myself to post an East Ridge trailhead pic this time as it looked quite sad, with all the green gone from below, wood chips, and the thinned out trees here.

Along the road again and down to the Edgewood Trail on this cloudy day:  36 thru 47

Out to Edgewood Ave.:  48 thru 90

Redbricked Edgewood to Farnsworth’s 149 steps:  91 thru 102

Farnsworth Lane to Willard:  103 thru 109

I like meandering around on San Francisco's park trails and public stairways, sometimes taking photos, and enjoying nature and the outdoors.
